Nigerian international, Chinedu Obasi’s dreams of securing a long time deal with Bundelisga giants, Schalke 04, has finally become a reality as the German outfit on Monday announced the signing of the Super Eagles’ fast paced winger on a permanent deal, until the end of the 2015 season.
The 25-year-old offensive player joined Schalke in the winter transfer window on loan from rivals Hoffenheim. ”Regardless of any other squad considerations for next season, Edu Obasi is the kind of player we need. He’s quick, able to beat players in one-on-one situations and can play on either flank as well as in the middle. “Our initial impression of him that persuaded us to take him on loan for the second half of the season was quickly confirmed after he joined us in January and so we’ve decided to exercise the option to buy that was set out in the loan agreement.” said Schalke’s director of sport, Horst Heldt, on the official website. The former Lyno Oslo player is delighted he was rewarded with a permanent deal. “I am looking forward to the future with Schalke. They are a really big club and a great team who will always be challenging for silverware,” Obasi said. Obasi has played 12 out of 14 competitive matches for the Royal Blues including four in the Europa League.
