Fulham boss denies rift with Etuhu

Dickson Etuhu

Fulham boss, Martin Jol, has declared that he has no problem with Super Eagles defensive mid fielder, Dickson Etuhu, even after the Nigerian was quoted as saying he is being frustrated under Jol’s leadership.

Etuhu was purportedly expressing his frustrations over not playing regularly and resolve to quit Fulham at the end of the season.

The Super Eagles star has since denied the quotes attributed to him, but Jol says he has no problem either way.

“It is always the same,” Jol told a UK based football website.

“There is always a couple of players who are not playing on a regular basis that are not happy.

“The strange thing with Dickson is that we get on very well. Two hours after the comments were made in the paper he came up to me and says he wants to stay.

“He wants to play here, he wants to fight for his spot and I like the boy. It is always the same. You have to keep your mouth shut and then at the end of the season you can tell me what you want.

“If you want to play, we can find a solution but with Dickson it was never a situation.

“Maybe a couple of months ago when he was unhappy he told someone in Nigeria – I don’t know where it came from – but he has issued a statement on the website.

“But even if hadn’t put something on the website, it is no problem with me because I can get on with him very well.”

Etuhu, who use to be a super regular under previous handlers, has  made just nine starting appearance for Fulham in 29 Premier league games this season.
