After firing blanks in the Eagles match with Rwanda on Wednesday in Kigali, Blackburn Rovers striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, alongside Wigan Athletics starlet, Victor Moses, are already in England to help their respective teams in their relegation battle.
Rovers are 18th on the log while Wigan are bottom in 20th position and both teams face the prospects of playing in the lower division next season.
Already both Nigerian players are aware that victory for their respective sides will lift them out of the relegation zone and will be quick to put behind them the disappointment of Kigali.
On saturday, Blackburn are home to Aston villa while Wigan will be playing host to Swansea city.
Moses, who made a debut appearance for the Eagles in the Rwanda game, believes his team has a good chance of survival despite their current precarious position.
“We still have a good chance of escaping relegation,” Moses said.
“All we need is to start getting the results from now, though it’s going to be difficult but we just have to give it our best shot.”
Other players
Meanwhile, other Nigerian players are also expected to play different roles for their clubs in the EPL this weekend.
Osaze Odewengie will hope to rediscover his goal scoring form when they host struggling Chelsea at the Hawthorms Arena.
Also out of form Taye Taiwo is also expected to play a part in QPR’s game against Everton while Fulham’s Dickson Etuhu hopes to be selected in the match against Wolverhampton.
