The death of a staunch Shooting Stars supporter, Alfa Busari, did not allow for much celebration even as 3sc recorded her first victory in as much as three home games in the Nigeria Premier League.
An eye witness said Busari slumped and died while attempting to make his way into the stadium and was confirmed dead almost immediately.
“There was no stampede, he just slumped and died” the witness said.
Despite the sad news, the Shooting Stars team and their Coach Festus Allen tried all they could to defeat their opponent Ocean Boys by a lone goal.
Road to victory
A 52nd minute strike from 3sc’s Osagona Ighadaro who was later voted the man of the match spared the Oluyole warriors their blushes having struggled to 0-0 draws in their last two games.
While coach Allen did not want to comment on the death of the football fan due to the sketchy information he had, he appealed to Ibadan fans to be patient with his team.
“I don’t really know what happened to the fan but that is very sad” he said ” I will like to appeal to our numerous fans to be patient with us; we are just evolving as a team and we promise not to let them down.”
In other Premier League games, Sharks FC forced Rising Stars to a goalless draw in Ijebu-Ode while Wikki Tourist defeated ABS FC 1-0 in Bauchi.
