Nigeria’s Perpetua Nkwocha alongside Ivorian Yaya Toure thursday night in Accra Ghana emerged as the best female and male players on the African continent.
Both players got the top prize at the GLO/CAF awards after garnering majority of the votes cast by a pool of national team coaches and technical directors.
Perpetua who is a key member of the Super Falcons, Nigeria’s national female team beat Nompumelelo Nyandani(South Africa) & Miriam Silva(Equatorial Guinea) to clinch the award.
She has now won African women’s player of the year award for a record four times having also won in 2004,2005, 2010
For Toure, the Manchester City midfielder beat Seydou Keita and Andre Ayew to become the ‘king’ of African football
Aside the award won by the duo, there were also winners in other categories as Austin Okocha and Mustapha Hadji won the legend award.
