Belgium 1-0 England: Januzaj blast wins Group G for Belgium

With 17 changes between them, Belgium and England’s clash determined the winner of Group E and it was Adnan Januzaj that gave Belgium the goal, which meant that for a second consecutive World Cup, Belgium won all three group matches.

They topped the group with nine points, nine goals for and two against and they will face Japan while England, losing for the first time in 13 competitive matches, will face Colombia.

Januzaj’s quick feet mesmerized Danny Rose and fired past Jordan Pickford in the 51st minute. There was great news for the Belgians as Vincent Kompany came off the bench in the 74th minute to replace Thomas Vermaelen. Belgium had four shots on target while England had just one.

In the other match, Tunisia won the battle of the no-hopers, beating Panama 2-1, despite conceding an own goal in the first half. The African side finished with three points and third place.

Fakhreddine Ben Youssef and Wahbi Khazri scored the two goals in six second half minutes to ensure they leave Russia with at least some pride.
