Football lovers will receive a special guest, Liverpool legend, John Barnes, at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, on Sunday, August 14.
The Anfield ace will be on hand at DStv’s new football season’s kick-off event where fans can get to meet the legend and watch Manchester United go up against Bournemouth at 1:30 pm and Arsenal face Liverpool at 4 pm which will be broadcast on SuperSport 3.
Barnes, widely regarded as one of the finest attacking players to grace the English league, also had success in music as well. He wrote Liverpool’s groove, Anfield Rap, a Liverpool FC FA cup final song.
With an excellent knowledge of the game, John works as an analyst for SuperSport and a pundit for ESPN.
Viewers will be immersed in the action from their favourite clubs and players with former Liverpool FC legend alongside other SuperSport on air personalities delivering live commentary and in-depth analysis of the Bournemouth vs Manchester United and Arsenal vs Liverpool matches.
“This season we decided to screen day two matches at the National Stadium to give more football lovers the opportunity to witness the game in high definition amid funfair”, said Martin Mabutho, general manager marketing, MultiChoice Nigeria.
He disclosed that MultiChoice continuously looks for innovative ways to make the season more exciting as it had become the most anticipated event that subscribers look forward to.
”Our ongoing Live Your Dream campaign starring Watford FC striker, Odion Ighalo, already set things in motion. Our subscribers can rest assured that this football season will be packed with so much entertainment and exciting offers”, Mabutho concluded.
Nigeria will indeed be well represented in the EPL this season with as much as 10 players with at least sharing ties with the country.
Leading the star-cast of Nigerian players that would be campaigning in the Premier League this season is the Chelsea duo of Victor Moses and Jon Obi Mikel.
Ola Aina, who is also of Nigerian descent, is also in Antonio Conte’s squad for the new season. At Watford, Odion Ighalo and Isaac Success are the country’s ambassadors while Arsenal also has the duo of Alex Iwobi and Chuba Akpom.
