Two goals inside three minutes by Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani has helped Portugal qualify for the final of the ongoing Euro 2016 Champions as they beat giant-killers Wales 2-0 on Wednesday night.
It was the first time that Portugal will win any game inside 90 minutes at the Euro 2016 and it was a good time to do so as they have now reached the finals of the Euro championships for the first time on foreign soil.
After a barren first half, it was Ronaldo who broke the deadlock as he rose above Chester in the area to power home a header and equal Michel Platini’s all-time record of nine goals at European Championships.
The three-time Ballon d’Or winner also became just the third player to score in two separate Euro semi-finals and the first to achieve the feat since 1964.
Three minutes after Portugal took the lead through Ronaldo, the Real Madrid superstar soon turned provider as they doubled their lead with Nani tucking the ball home.
Portugal had a couple of chances to extend their lead but they could not same way Wales failed to reduce the deficit despite coming quite close on a number of occasions.
Portugal will now wait for the winner of the France and Germany game to face in the final.
