Enugu Rangers and Heartland FC fired blanks on Friday night as the Oriental Derby in Enugu ended in a barren draw.
Rangers were hoping they could build on the 4-1 win they recorded against Ikorodu United in their last home game as they faced the Naze Millionaires on Friday at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium.
However, hard as the Flying Antelopes tried, they were unable to get behind their fierce regional rivals who seem
ed to be at their best in derby games.
Heartland also forced Enyimba to draw in the other installment of the Oriental Derby.
Indeed, Rangers dominated Friday’s game from the blast of the whistle but they failed to make their dominance and superior ball possession count for anything.
The Flying Antelopes had the golden opportunity to go in front just before half time but Chinedu Egbuchulam failed to convert the spot kick awarded to his team.
With the solitary derby point, Rangers remain top of the NPFL log with 32 points from 18 games but they maybe overtaken when the other weekend matches are decided.
