Real Madrid to appeal FIFA transfer ban

Real Madrid

Spanish football giant, Real Madrid, has said it would appeal the decision of world football governing body, FIFA, banning the club from registering new players for the next two transfer windows.

Real Madrid said this Thursday in a statement published on the club’s website.

Real Madrid and Madrid rival, Atletico, have been banned from registering players for the next two registration periods.

The ban was announced Thursday by FIFA which communicated the resolutions to the clubs.

FIFA has accused both Madrid clubs of breaching its rules on the international transfer and registering players under the age of 18.

Athletico Madrid was fined 900,000 Swiss francs (£622,000) and Real Madrid 360,000 (£249,000).

The suspension does not come into effect until after the current January window which will end on the 31.

Another Spanish club, FC Barcelona, has just finished serving such ban this January.

The club was also banned by FIFA from signing and making transfers of new players for two transfer windows which ended this January.
