Enyimba out to end Kano Pillars 11-year unbeaten home record

As action returns this weekend in the Nigeria Premier League after the General Elections, the million-dollar question on the lips of many fans is whether Enyimba can do the unprecedented by ending the amazing 11-year unbeaten run of Kano Pillars on their home ground.

In the past weeks, fans have been starved of local football action as the League Management Company LMC rightly suspended all league matches to avert unnecessary interruptions and to also allow football officials and players to exercise their civic rights by voting in their respective locations.

With action now back, the attention of many is in Kano where Pillars will play host to fierce rivals, Enyimba.

Several visits of the Peoples’ Elephant to Kano, home of the reigning champions, have either seen them draw or the visitors losing the game.

Another tough contest is expected when the two sides clash Saturday in Kano, even as Pillars have set the agenda of winning the Nigeria League shield for the fourth consecutive year.

Enyimba, on their part, have been haunted by poor starts in the past years in the League and they have vowed not to fall into same ditch this time. They have vowed to give Pillars a run for their money even on their home ground at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.

The Match Day four  game promises to be action-packed as the two top clubs are known arch-rivals; they can boast of a full stadium as they both command the highest numbers of fans in the league.

Owing to the gun attack and busy continental schedule, Kano Pillars have played just a game in the League this season ; defeating Bayelsa at home 2-0 and they are placed  on the 11th spot of the table.

Predicting the outcome of the Kano Pillars/ Enyimba star match is sure a hard task because both team boasts of a rich mix of talented players like Mfon Udoh of Enyimba and Gambo Mohammed of Kano Pillars who is likely going to be returning back to the action this weekend having been out all season owing to gunshot injuries.

Pillars and Enyimba were Nigeria’s representatives in 2015 edition of the CAF Champions League but the duo have since crashed and have both vowed to concentrate on winning the Nigeria League as a consolation for their continental miss.
