FA Cup: Aiyegbeni ready for Arsenal test

Yakubu Aiyegbeni remains in fine form as he scores his eighth goal of the season in China

Former Super Eagles striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, has declared that he is highly positive his Championship side, Reading FC, will get the better off Arsenal as they both square up in Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final showdown at the Wembley Stadium.

Yakubu joined the Championship side in January and has struggled to make the expected impact
. But the striker believes he can come good against the Gunners this weekend and help Reading secure their place in the finals.

“We’re not just going there to play. We’re going there to give it our best to win,” Yakubu told his club’s officiate website.

“I can’t remember how many exactly, but I know I always score against Arsenal.

“For sure we can beat them. You can beat any team. You have to believe.

“We are playing at Wembley against one of the best teams in England. It’s great for the players, the club, for the fans and for the community. Everyone is excited.

“Arsenal are a good team so when you play against them you have to be ready and focused.

“Any mistake they are going to punish you because they have great players. They pass the ball very well.

“So we just have to stick together, defend well and then hopefully we can surprise everyone
,” Aiyegbeni said.

Yakubu scored the winning goal in the 5th round against Derby County and has already notched up five goals against Arsenal in the past
, and his experience, many believe, will be useful against the Gunners.
