It was another sweet outing for Super Eagles striker Osaguona Ighodaro as he banged in two late goals on Sunday to help his Moroccan team, Raja Casablanca, qualify for the next phase of the CAF Champions League.
Ighodaro scored in the 87th and 90th+ to give Raja a 2-0 win on the night and 3-0 win over South African giants Kazier Chiefs.
Incidentally, it was Ighodaro who scored the only goal in the away tie in Durban last term, meaning he singlehandedly accounted for the exit of Kazier Chiefs from this year’s CAF Champions League.
The South African side will blame themselves for the chances they spurned earlier in the game as they were finally punished when their defense switched off with a minute to go, and Siboniso Gaxa inexplicably chested a cross into the path of Osaguona, who slotted past Khune from close range.
Osaguona nailed Chiefs’ coffin as he got another goal four minutes into stoppage-time, burying after a deflected cross into the area fell at his feet.
So Raja progressed on a 3-0 on aggregate, meaning South Africa will have no representatives in the Champions League second round after Mamelodi Sundowns were also eliminated earlier on Sunday.
