The Senior Men National Basketball Team, D’Tigers, are looking good for their two-legged qualifier with Burkina Faso after posting a big win in their test match against an All-Stars selected basketball side on Wednesday in Abuja.
D’Tigers, who are hoping to beat Burkina Faso to the 2015 Afrobasket ticket, won their test match with a big scoreline of 97-39 to the delight of the handlers of the national basketball team.
The Afrobasket, is the flagship event of basketball in Africa and it will be played in Tunisia later this year, according to ruling body, FIBA.
D’Tigers were too hot to handle for the All-Stars as they won all the four quarters in the game to inflict a serious defeat on their opponent.
The coach of the team, Sanni Ahmed, said after the match that the players are now in a right shape to battle Burkina Faso for the Afrobasket ticket.
“The players are ready for battle in Burkina Faso, they are of sound mind and shape to win both at home and away in the qualifying leg for this year’s tourney” Coach Ahmed said in a press statement signed by the Team’s media officer, Akinkunle Bolarinwa.
Nigeria has been grouped in Group E with Burkina Faso in the qualifying round of the 2015 Afrobasket.
