Super 4: 10-Man Flying Eagles defeat Enyimba

The Nigeria U20 team, the Flying Eagles, Saturday evening at the Abuja National Stadium defeated former league champions, Enyimba FC 2-0, at the ongoing Super Four tournament organized by the League Management Company.

The Coach Manu Garba-led team, though playing with a man less after Prince Aggreh was shown a red card for a second bookable offence, still outshined the Enyimba team that is being handled by veteran coach, Kadiri Ikhana.

The opening goal for the Flying Eagles came just after the hour mark when Taiwo Awoniyi was fouled by Anaemena and then the penalty kick awarded was calmly converted by Captain Musa Mohammed.

The Flying Eagles killed off the game late on after a brilliant move by Musa Yahaya, who dribbled an Enyimba FC defender four times to score the second goal few seconds to the final whistle.

The match thus ended 2-0.

Speaking after the match, Taiwo Adeniyi, one of the Flying Eagles strikers said he and his team mates werehappy to beat a top team like Enyimba.

“They are better and much more older but we still won the match. We are happy,” Adeniyi said.

In addition, one of the coaches of Enyimba, Friday Christopher, commended the U20 for their performance

“They’re a good side. There’s no doubt and they played better than us. I’m proud of them, they’ll make us proud,” he said.

In the first game played earlier in the day, reigning Nigerian League champions, Kano Pillars, defeated Dolphins FC 2-0
