Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles team on Saturday in a way compensated for their Africa Cup Nations miss when they registered a 2-0 win over Yemen in an international friendly in Dubai same time the 2015 AFCON showpiece kick-started in Equatorial Guinea.
The best player cum highest goal scorer in the Nigeria League for last season, Mfon Udoh, got the opener for the Eagles against the less fancied Yemeni side when he found back of the net in the 26th minute.
Yemen are ranked 176th in the world and many had expected a whitewash but the Eagles had to wait till the 64th minute before they got the second goal and by extension the last of the day.
The goal came from gangling defender Azubuike Egwuekwe who is reported to be close to making a move abroad from his present Nigerian club Warri Wolves.
The home based Eagles had played against a star-studded Ivorian team just last weekend and they lost narrowly 1-0 to the Yaya Toure led team.
