Cristiano Ronaldo has again been voted the best player in the world having emerged as the 2014 balloon d’or winner.
Ronaldo beat the duo of Lionel Messi and Manuel Neuer to the top award. He has won the award three times.
For many, the greatest individual feat in football in 2014 was Cristiano Ronaldo’s 17 Champions League goal-haul that smashed the scoring record for one season in the competition and helped Real Madrid finally land the their 10th European Cup.
The former Manchester United attacker also became the fastest player to score 200 goals in December 2014 when he netted a hat-trick against Celta Vigo in his 178th league match for the Spanish outfit.
Ronaldo was also named in the FIFPro World XI at the ceremony in Zurich.
