Super Eagles to play Sudan as Mali withdraws from friendly

The Eagles of Mali will no longer play the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the proposed January friendly in Abu Dhabi but officials have announced that Sudan has been chosen to fill the vacant spot.

The Super Eagles B team were originally meant to play against Cote d’Ivoire and Mali but the change of plan by the Mali Football Federation as regards the final camping of their national team ahead of the 30th Africa Cup of finals in Equatorial Guinea has thus slightly altered the programme of the Nigeria team for their January tour of United Arab Emirates.

In the revised schedule, the game against the Elephants comes up on January 11, while the clash with the Falcons of Sudan will come up on January 17.

The officials also explained that in view of these changes, the players invited to camp at the Bolton White Apartments, Abuja are now expected to arrive on Tuesday, December 30, and not December 28 as earlier planned.

Meanwhile, former Swiss junior international, Steven Ukoh, whose application to represent Nigeria at senior level was recently approved by world football–governing body, FIFA, has confirmed his availability for the mini-tour. He becomes the 25th player on the invitation list.
