The two teams that will be representing Nigeria in next season’s CAF Champions League, Kano Pillars and Enyimba International, have been handed their opponents following the conclusion of the draws on Monday in Cairo, Egypt.

According to the pairings, reigning Nigeria League champions, Kano Pillars, will face South Sudan club, Malakia, while the Peoples Elephant have a date with Beninese outfit, Buffles du Borgou FC.

As disclosed by CAF, a total of 58 clubs were in the draw and the time table for the preliminary round shows that first leg games will take place from February 13 to 15, 2015 while the 2nd leg comes up two weeks later from February 27 to March 1, 2015.

Pillars are expected to travel to Juba for their first leg clash while Enyimba are to begin their campaign on the home front in Aba.

As expected, top guns like holders ES Setif, Coton Sport, AC Leopards, Al-Ahly, TP Mazembe, CS Sfaxien and Esperance of Tunisia were all exempted from the preliminaries.

Meanwhile, in the CAF Confederations Cup where Nigeria also has two representations, Dolphins FC and Warri Wolves, the two teams have also been handed opponents in the preliminary round.

Leones Vegetarianos of Equatorial Guinea will be up against Dolphins, with the Port Harcourt based side starting away from home; same for Warri Wolves who will begin their campaign on the road against RCB of Burkina Faso.

Having failed to make any meaningful impact in last season’s competition, many hope the clubs representing Nigeria this term will give a better display.
