Electoral Appeals Committee upholds Sept. 30 NFF elections

Nigeria Footbal Federation

The Nigeria Football Federation Electoral Appeals Committee has upheld the September 30 elections held in Warri, Delta state, albeit with some level of controversy trailing the decision.

In a rather intriguing manner during a final deliberation which was made at an undisclosed venue in Abuja on Wednesday, the bulk of members in the Appeals Committee upheld the September 30 polls in its entirety while the Committee Chairman and a legal practitioner, Okey Ajunwa held the minority opinion against same.

Four aggrieved contestants, including an ex-administrator of the NFF, Iyke Igbokwe had challenged the September 2014 election which held in Warri and threw up the Amaju Pinnick-led Executive Committee board of the NFF.

A press release signed by all the five committee members excluding the Committee chairman stated that all appeals have been thrown out, but the Chairman still maintained contrary opinion on some of the decisions made.

The statement from the Appeals Committee stated that chairman was free to hold a dissenting minority opinion but that that does not overrule the decisions agreed by the majority of members.

With the latest development, the Amaju Pinnick-led board may now settle fully to carry out their functions for their four-year tenure.
