Shooting Stars celebrate return to Nigeria Premier League

There is excitement in the camp of Shooting Stars of Ibadan following their promotion to the Nigeria Premier League after they defeated Akwa Starlets 1-0 at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan on Saturday.

Shooting Stars were relegated to the lower division last season but the Oluyole Warriors have made a swift return; finishing top in the Nigerian National League, NNL, Division B with 50 points from 30 matches.

The crucial goal that retuned 3SC to the elite cadre was scored by Sylvanus Ebiaku.

The Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Umar Farouk Arisekola-Alao, expressed his delight over promotion of the state team.

“I’m so happy today with the performance of the team and they really made the state proud because this is the first time the team will be promoted instantly after 35 years. This is a new beginning and we are going to prepare well for the Nigeria Premier League Football,” he told journalists after the match in Ibadan

Aside Shooting Stars, Wikki Tourists and Gabros have also won promotion back to the Nigeria Premier League following victories on the final day of the NNL on Saturday.
