Ahmed Musa scores twice as Eagles defeat Sudan

Nigerian Super Eagles

The Super Eagles’ quest for qualification for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations got a big boost Wednesday as the reigning Africa Champions secured a vital 3-1 win over Sudan at the Abuja National Stadium.

Ahmed Musa turned out to be hero scoring the first and last goals in the nervy clash played under the rain at the Federal capital Territory.

The Eagles were unable to break the Falcons under the rain in the first half and had to wait till the second half before Musa broke the deadlock in the 48th minute which sent the Abuja fans in to wild jubilation.

The celebration in the Abuja stadium was however short-lived as the Sudanese national team got the equaliser not long afterwards through Bakri Alamdina in the 55th minute.

However, China-based striker, Aaron Samuel, who many had questioned his invitation, shut his critics with an acrobatic finish to score on his debut and give Nigeria a 2-1 lead before Musa in the closing stages completed the good work he had started; scoring the third and final goal of the game.

With the result, Nigeria are now off the bottom of Group A with four points from four games while Sudan stays on three with same number of matches.
