NFF killing Nembe City FC – Coach

The Head coach of Nembe Football Club, John Aranka, has accused the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, of being behind its poor outing in the Nigeria Premier League, NPL.

In a chat with PREMIUM TIMES Tuesday, Coach Aranka blamed the NFF for manipulating referees to ensure his team lost both at home and away during all the league matches because the club’s proprietor, Rumson Baribote, has issues with the federation.

Mr. Baribote supports Chris Giwa, the proprietor of Giwa Football Club and factional president of the NFF.

“The NFF is the one killing the club. They are in charge of the referees and they have asked them to disfavour Nembe City football club, our problem is from the top, the people on the helms of football affairs are not treating us well and this has been causing problems for the team,” he said.

“Who is in charge of the referees, is it not the NFF?” He asked “they are giving orders to ensure we are moved out of the premier league because my Chairman is in support of Chris Giwa they are frustrating us, you need to come and watch our matches and see how these match officials treat us, it is not fair”.

Nembe City has been falling since the beginning of the 2013/14 league season, sitting on the last spot of the 20-club premiership since the beginning of the season.

“I pray peace can be restored to the football family, this crisis has been a road block for us and I would love it more if they can settle with my Chairman and let all the troubles come to an end,” the coach said.

Reacting to reports that the club owed some players, he defended the proprietor saying Mr. Baribote is the only one funding the team and should be applauded rather than criticised.

“The club is funded by one man without any support from anyone not even the government, we should give him the credit for sponsoring a club with his personal money, it is not as bad as it was put in the news, we are not owing much,” he explained.

Nembe City is heading for relegation as their performances so far this season has been discouraging. The team has been on the last spot of the league since the 2013/14 league season commenced.

So far they have 25 points in 29 played matches.
