Nigeria’s Premier League highest goal scorers, Osagona Igbodalo and Gbolahan Salami, have said they are delighted to be called up for the 2015 African Cup of Nation, AFCON, qualifiers which will commence next month.
In a chat with PREMIUM TIMES on Tuesday, the player expressed their excitement for the call up.
The Enugu Rangers forward, Osagona Igbodalo, who currently holds the title of highest goal record in the 2013/14 premier league season said he is happy and will prove himself worthy in the star studded team.
“I am happy and I thank God it is always been my dream to play for the Super Eagles. I think the coach invited me based on my performance and I want to thank my team mates for their support. Nigerians should expect a better me because I am going to express myself naturally.”
Osagona currently tops the 24 week old Nigeria Premier league chart with 13 goals and Gbolahan with 10 goals.
Gbolahan Salami on the other hand told PREMIUM TIMES that his return to the national team is a sign of his hard work and perseverance in the local league.
He said “It’s great news for me, meaning I am doing well in the local league. It will be a delight for me to return to the Super Eagles a more mature Gbolahan and give the best that I can offer”.
Super Eagles head coach also invited Stephen Keshi home-based players -Chinedu Obasi and Nosa Igiebor to the national team for the 2015 AFCON qualifier.
Nigeria will play her first match against Congo after Rwanda was on Sunday disqualified for fielding an ineligible player.
