The embattled President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Aminu Maigari, has been reinstated.
This was stated by the Minister of Sports, Tamuna Danagogo, at a press briefing in Abuja on Friday evening.
In what appears a clear volte face from his earlier stance, Mr. Danagogo declared Mr. Maigari as the authentic President of the NFF. He asked Mr. Maigari, who was impeached by the board of the NFF last month, to resume work on Monday.
The minister’s statement on Friday appears to have been influenced by Thursday’s letter by the world football governing body, FIFA, ordering Mr. Maigari’s reinstatement.
