Nigerian league side, FC Taraba, has announced it is working hard to grab more away points in the second round of the 2013/14 league season.
Speaking with PREMIUM TIMES in Abuja on Monday, the spokesperson of the club, Martin Odiete, reiterated the management’s worry over losses in away matches during the first round of the league season.
“The club is bothered that we are not picking away points. We have started working on picking away points. We want to go and win El Kanemi Warriors in Kano; it’s a neutral place. At least a point in an away match will be okay for us,” he said.
The club sat on the top three spot on the league table before it fell to its present 12th position.
“We are not contending for laurels or continental ticket, we just want to finish well and remain as a premier league club. We want to avoid relegation,” he explained.
Mr. Odiete also accused the club’s players of a lack of fighting spirit.
“No secret, our boys come out to play and come out to give their best.
Unfortunately, when we go out, they don’t come out of their shell. We have only lost once at home, to Giwa FC. Apart from that, we have won all our home matches.
With the new seven players that we bought, I believe we will do better in our away games,” he concluded of his team that was promoted to the elite league at the beginning the season.
