Nigerian League: Eguavoen wins debut as Gombe United coach

A former Super Eagles coach, Austin Eguavoen, on Saturday had his first league game as coach of Gombe United.

Eguavoen’s team defeated Bayelsa United 1-0 in the match played in Benin, the Edo State capital.
The only goal of the match was scored in the seventh minute by Gombe United’s, Phillips Asuquo.

The match was the only Nigeria Professional Football League match played on Saturday. It was played because of a political rally billed for the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, on Sunday.
The other Week 22 league matches will be played on Sunday.
