Nigerian League: Kano Pillars, Sharks, Nembe secure victories

Kano Pillars retained their position at the top of the table.

The defending champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League, Kano Pillars, on Wednesday defeated Giwa FC, 3-1, to retain their top position in the league.

Pillars striker, Adamu Hassan, scored the first goal in the 4th minute of the first half while Shuaibu Ibrahim equalized for Giwa FC in the 40th minute. Ezekiel Mba scored Pillars’ second goal in the 44th minute after an assist by Gambo Mohammed to end the first half 2-1.

Kabiru Umar scored the third goal for Kano Pillars in the 85th minute to ensure the host secured all three points.

Kano Pillars now have 37 points from 21 matches.

In other matches, Sharks FC defeated Bayelsa United, 2-0, while Nembe City defeated Rangers 2-1.
