Commonwealth Games: Adekuoroye, Usman, Adeniyi win gold medals

Nigeria won medals in weightlifting and wrestling.

Team Nigeria has gained more medals in Glasgow as Odunayo Adekuoroye won gold on Wednesday in the women’s wrestling 53kg freestyle category.

The 19-year-old defeated India’s Lalita Lalita 2-0 making it the fourth gold medal for Nigeria at the on-going Commonwealth games in Glasgow.

Another wrestler, Amina Adeniyi, won a gold medal in the women’s 58kg category.

In men’s wrestling, Nigeria clinched two bronze medals when Amos Daniel beat England’s Sasha Madyarchyk 4-1 in the men’s 61kg freestyle, and Melvin Bibo won bronze in the 74kg freestyle.

In weightlifting, Maryam Usman won a gold medal on Wednesday after lifting 125kg in snatch and 155kg clean and jerk.
