Okagbare sets a new record with a time of 10.85 seconds.

Athlete Blessing Okagbare on Monday won gold medal in the women’s 100m event at the ongoing 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Okagbare did not only win the race, she did so in style by setting a new game record with her winning time of 10.85 seconds.

The athlete, who is perhaps Nigeria’s most prolific sprinter of her era, started brilliantly till she made her way to the finish line.

Two other Jamaican athletes, Veronica Campbell-Brown and Kerron Stewart took second and third positions respectively.

Gloria Asumnu of Nigeria also ran at the finals. She was, however, the last to cross the lines.

Nigeria is now the 10th on the medal table with three gold medals.
