Nigerian League: Ogunbote wants to win laurels for Sharks FC

Sharks still hopes to win local and continental competitions.

Sharks FC head Coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, has stated his intention to win laurels for the team this season.

The team presently sits on the fourth position in the Nigerian premier league. The coach hopes his team could still win local and continental laurels despite their standing on the league table.

In a chat with PREMIUM TIMES in Abuja, Ogunbote said, “At least I want to win a laurel this season. We have missed out on the federation cup and let’s see what we can get out of the league. We also have plans to give the club a continental ticket.”
The former head Coach of Sunshine Stars FC said he has plans to go out and prepare adequately for the second round of the 2013/14 league season.

He said, “We plan to go out and prepare very well for the second round of the league. We will do our best to make sure that we get something out of it.”

Talking about the Sharks’ position on the league table, he said the team’s four straight loss was one of the problems they had at the end of the first round.

“Yes, we had a slip towards the latter part of the first round and it was responsible for that. You can imagine losing four games at a stretch; it is not too good and it doesn’t give prospects to make impact in the league. We are trying to amend what went wrong.

Let’s see what happens when the second stanza starts; although it is too early to talk about who will carry the league cup.”
