England out of 2014 World Cup as Costa Rica advance

Costa Rica defeated Italy 1-0.

England are out of the Brazil 2014 World Cup.

The English team’s exit was confirmed after Costa Rica defeated Italy 1-0 in their second match of the tournament.

The victory means that after two matches, Costa Rica lead group D with 6 points, Uruguay are second with three points, while Italy are third also with three points. England are bottom of the group with no point.

Costa Rica have thus qualified for the second round of the tournament.

England’s last match is against Costa Rica and even if the English win, they will end up with three points.

Costa Rica will be joined in qualification by the winner of the match between Italy and Uruguay.
