The list will now be announced at 11 p.m. Nigerian time.
Nigeria soccer fans hoping to get first hand information on the players that will represent the country at the Brazil 2014 World Cup will have to wait a little longer.
The much anticipated 23-man final list, originally meant to be released to the public by 5 p.m. Nigerian time, was yet to be released by 8:00 p.m.
This has led to varying reaction on social media and different un-official list being circulated.
A PREMIUM TIMES source in the Super Eagles camp said officials of the NFF and Coach Keshi were locked in a marathon meeting on the list although it is not clear what the bone of contention is.
The source further revealed that a new time of 11 p.m. Nigeria time (6 p.m. in Philadelphia, where the Eagles are camped) has been adopted for the release of Nigeria’s final squad.
“They have told us (journalists) that the new time we will be addressed is 11 p.m. Nigeria time which will be 6 p.m. here. That will just be one hour before the team steps out for training” the source at the Eagles Weston Hotel revealed.
Already FIFA has set 11.59 p.m. tonight as deadline for submission of every participating country’s list.
Nigeria has 30 players in her provisional World Cup roster and needs to drop 7 from the pool.
