The players are Christian Obiozor, Sehun Taro, Uche Ndukwe, Odah Onoride, Etim Mathew and Meshack Chukwubuikem.
Rangers International Football Club of Enugu on Friday suspended six of its players indefinitely for alleged incitement, indiscipline, and non-performance.
Paul Ozor, the General Manager of the club, told the News Agency of Nigeria in a telephone interview that the players were suspected after Friday’s training.
He said the affected players were expected to vacate the team camp before close of work on Friday.
The players are Christian Obiozor, Sehun Taro, Uche Ndukwe, Odah Onoride, Etim Mathew and Meshack Chukwubuikem.
Chukwubuikem was suspended in February by the club management for refusing to travel with the team for a pre-season friendly at Abia Warriors.
Ozor alleged that the suspended players had been sabotaging the club’s efforts during league matches and inciting other players against the management.
“They were suspended for an act of indiscipline, incitement, non-commitment, poor performance, insubordination and not showing remorse.
“In spite of the advice and counselling by the Technical Adviser, they have consistently remained adamant and refused to obey instructions,’’ Ozor said.
According to him, the players were suspended without pay and will receive their outstanding sign-off fees for last season when the state government releases the team’s budgetary allocation for 2014.
Ozor noted that apart from the sign-on fees, the club is not indebted to the players as they were paid their salaries as at when due.
Meanwhile, Ozor said the club had perfected winning strategy for Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League encounter against Crown FC of Ogbomosho in Enugu.
“We want to make sure we don’t lose any match at home again.
“The management will ensure that the players get their match bonus anytime we play; they were promised N100, 000 to win Heartland in Owerri but they did not win.
“So, this time around, we are looking at other ways of motivating them for this encounter,’’ Ozor added.
