Nigerian League: Abia Warriors apologise to fans for poor results

Abia Warriors’ next game will be against newly promoted side FC Taraba at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo.

Glo Premier League newcomers, Abia Warriors, have apologised to their supporters across the country for their poor performance in recent times which has made them lose three consecutive matches in seven days.

The Umuahia-based side conceded defeat at Enugu Rangers in a match day 8 tie while they lost to Warri Wolves on home soil in match day 9 duel. They then lost on the road to Dolphins in a match day 10 clash in Port Harcourt.

The team’s apology is contained in a letter signed by team captain, Chima Uluocha and addressed to the chairman of the club, Emeka Inyama.

In a statement made available to the media by Igwe Onuoha, the team’s spokesperson, the players accepted responsibility for the losses and regretted the valuable points they forfeited in the process.

While lamenting the agony the losses brought to their supporters and management, the players promised to make up for the lost ground in their subsequent matches.

“We really regret losing those matches knowing that the points would’ve put us in firm command on the league log while the match bonuses lost in the process would’ve gone a long way to better our lives in one way or the other,” said Uluocha regretfully.

The players commended the management for living up to expectations by ensuring the prompt settlement of their emoluments and promised to reciprocate the gesture henceforth by putting up better performance in their future matches.

Abia Warriors’ next game will be against newly promoted side FC Taraba at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo.

Warriors have earned 11 points in the 10-week old Nigerian top flight and have a game in hand.
