Akwa United still sit pretty at the top of the league.
Akwa United still lead the table after the fifth week of the Nigerian Premier League.
At the end of Week 5 fixtures, Abia Warriors and Nasarawa moved up the table while Sharks FC dropped three points and moved from the second to the fifth position on the table. FC Taraba, even with an outstanding match, sit on the second position of the league table.
Giwa FC, the newly-pardoned club with just two matches played, already garnered three points ahead of Heartland FC, Kaduna United, and Nembe City.
The league defending Champion, Kano Pillars seem not to be able to find their roots yet in the five-week-old league. Pillars have gone through a lot in 2014, including an early knock out at the continental tournament, the introduction of a new management and the introduction of a new coach. These might be the reasons behind their poor performance. The defending champion has only won a match, drawn 2 and lost 1. They also have an outstanding match.
Wednesday 9/4/2014 Mid-week match Fixtures

Warri Wolves v Enyimba is to be played at the Warri Township Stadium; while Bayelsa united will host Nasarawa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.
