The Nigeria Premier League newcomers, Giwa FC, on Wednesday defeated Enugu Rangers FC with a lone goal in Jos while the league defending champion, Kano Pillars, defeated Warri wolves by two goals. The games ended 1-0 and 2-0 respectively.
The midweek match recorded a shocker with Giwa FC’s victory over the former league champions Enugu Rangers FC.
Kano Pillars got their first full points this season after Wednesday’s match which took place at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
Giwa FC forward, Edoh Ocheme, scored the team’s first goal ever in a Premier League at the 35th minute of the game and despite all efforts of both teams, the game ended 1-0.
Kano Pillars got a 36th minute penalty which was converted to a goal by the team’s goalkeeper, Theophilus Afekholai, while Rabiu Ali scored the second goal of the game at the 84th minute of the match.
The league matches continue this weekend.
