The team doctor says the goalkeepers will be ready to face Zimbabwe at the weekend.
Bayelsa United suffered a setback during a Week 2 league match against Gombe United at the Patami Stadium on Sunday with injuries to two of its goalkeepers
The game which ended goalless saw Bayelsa’s first-choice goalkeeper, Gideon Gambo, stretchered off the pitch. He was replaced by Kazeem Yekeen, who after a few minutes also suffered a hamstring injury. The former Kwara United, shot stopper, Yekeen, barely managed to finish the game with the injury.
Speaking to PREMIUM TIMES, George Emeli, the media officer of Bayelsa United, said, “It was a minor injury, the team doctor said between now and Friday they will be fine and will be able to play (How Mine of) Zimbabwe at the Confederation Cup.”
He stated that team was ready for the weekend match against the Zimbabwean side.
“The team is ready and the injured goalkeepers will be ready as well. We cannot rule them out yet as the doctor said between now and then, they should be okay.”
