Nosa Igiebor knee injury has persisted causing his limited appearances at matches.
Nigerian midfielder, Nosa Igiebor, suffered an injury relapse and has been dropped from the Real Betis squad for Thursday’s Europa League clash away to Rubin Kazan.
According to the information on Betis website, Igiebor has not been able to overcome the problems in his knee and medics advised that he stayed back in Seville while his colleagues travelled to Russia for
their second leg Round of 32 Europa League clash.
“Nosa has not travelled with the team to Kazan as he has not overcome the problems in his knee and medics have decided that he stayed in Sevilla” a short statement on Real Betis’ official website read in
Before finally opting to leave Igiebor out of the Russia trip, the Nigerian international was subjected to a late fitness test on Wednesday which he did not pass.
Tests carried out discovered that Igiebor’s mild internal parameniscitis persisted in his left knee.
The development forced Betis Coach, Pepelu Calderón, to travel with a 20-man squad instead of the 21 he would have loved to travel for the Rubin Kazan tie.
The injury has limited Igiebor’s appearances for Betis this term, as the Super Eagles midfielder has managed only 11 league games all season.
Betis were forced to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their game against Rubin Kazan and would need more hard work to pull through owing to the not too inspiring home display.
