After missing out on Chelsea’s weekend win over Everton, Super Eagles midfielder, Mikel Obi, looks set to return to action with the Blues.

He was part of the 21 players that travelled from London to Istanbul on Monday.

Chelsea will on Wednesday take on Turkish giants, Galatasaray, in a Champions League Round of 16 first-leg match; and Coach Jose Mourinho has harped on the need to have either Mikel or his Brazilian teammate, David Luiz, for the game.

“We have three days so let’s see… With Mikel and David Luiz, I don’t know if they can recover. It’s important we have at least one of them because we don’t have Matic for the Champions League,” Mourinho had said on Chelsea’s official website on Saturday.

January signings, Nemanja Matic, and Mohamed Salah, cannot play for Chelsea in the Champions League this season having appeared in the group stage for their former clubs.

Chelsea is hoping for a favourable result from home, hence, they decided to set out to Turkey two days before the match due to the travelling time involved.

The players trained at Cobham, Monday morning, and will do so again in Istanbul on Tuesday.

The full travelling Chelsea squad are:

Petr Cech, Mark Schwarzer, Henrique Hilario, John Terry, Gary Cahill, David Luiz, Ashley Cole, Cesar Azpilicueta, Branislav Ivanovic, Tomas Kalas, Nathan Ake, Frank Lampard, John Mikel Obi, Ramires, Oscar, Eden Hazard, Andre Schurrle, Willian, Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o, Demba Ba.
