Jonathan to host Nigeria’s CHAN 2014 squad

Super Eagles came in third

The Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, will on Thursday host the Super Eagles squad that participated in the African Nations Championship, CHAN, 2014 in South Africa .

The President’s spokesperson, Reuben Abati, confirmed this on Monday.

“Yes, there is an event scheduled for Thursday evening,” he told PREMIUM TIMES

Mr. Abati said the event was mainly to give the team a presidential recognition.

“The emphasis here is not on monetary reward, but the presidential recognition of their efforts,” he said.

The event will take place at the state banquet hall, Aso Villa, Abuja.

The Super Eagles won the bronze medal at CHAN after defeating Zimbabwe.

The Presidency had also honored the Super Eagles squad that won the African Cup of Nations, AFCON; as well the Golden Eaglets when they won the U17 FIFA World Cup.
