The minister promised the players N16 million for defeating Morocco.
The Chairman of the National Sports Commission and Minster of Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi, will be in South Africa to cheer the home base Eagles to victory in Wednesday’s crunch semi-final match against the Black Stars of Ghana, PREMIUM TIMES has reliably gathered.
The minister and his entourage are expected in Bloefometin as the Eagles are billed to battle their arch rivals, Ghana, for a final ticket at the 3rd edition of the CHAN tournament heading for a thrilling finish this weekend.
As a way of motivating the Nigerian team, the minster, who had earlier promised N16 million to the team for their dramatic win over Morocco, has dangled same if the Stephen Keshi-tutored side defeats Ghana.
As at Tuesday morning, the N16 million largesse promised for the Morocco win has not been paid to the Eagles. An official of the team who craved anonymity, however, said the players will get their monies once the minister is in town.
