Manchester City retain second position.
Two goals from Spaniard Santi Carzola ensured Arsenal stay top of the English Premier League at least for another week as the Gunners battled to a 2-0 win over Fulham.
Though Arsene Wenger’s men were not necessarily at their best on Saturday at the Emirates, they did enough to secure the three points at stake to take their tally for the season to 51 points from 22 games.
After several misses and near misses, Arsenal broke the deadlock in the 57 th minute through Carzola who latched on to an assist from Jack Wilshere.
Carzola doubled Arsenal’s lead four minutes later with a wonder strike which gave the Gunners some breathing space till the final whistle.
In other centres, Manchester City continued their free-scoring spree as the romped to a 4-2 win over Cardiff City.
The Citizens with over a 100 goals in all competitions this season stay second o the EPL table, just one point adrift of Arsenal.
Also Shola Ameobi’s Newcastle returned to winning ways as they handed a 3-1 defeat to West Ham at the Uptown Park.
Sunderland and Southampton settled for a 2-2 draw in the day’s earlier fixture while Crystal Palace had something to cheer with their lone goal win over Stoke City.
