Both teams are preparing for international competitions.
The Nigeria Football Federation has arranged a friendly match between the Nigeria U-17 women national team, Flamingoes, and the U-20 women side, Falconets.
The match, scheduled for January 18, will be the female cadet team’s first test match since resuming camp in January.
The Coach Bala Nkiyu-led Flamingoes and the Coach Peter Dedevbo-led Falconets are expected to use the match to prepare for the qualifier for 2014 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Costa Rica and this weekend’s African Women Championship qualifier against South Africa respectively.
Nkiyu said the friendly was crucial for the success of his wards.
“Our preparation is very important for success at the World Cup. We are happy the friendly with the Falconets is coming at the right time as it will provide us a good test of our strength and readiness. We have been training for the past few weeks and friendly matches like this will help us (technical crew) assess the players in view of moulding a strong team,” he said.
The match comes 13 days after the U-17 side resumed camp.
The encounter will be played at the FIFA Goal Project centre of the Abuja National Stadium in Abuja, the Nigerian capital. The kick off time for the match is 3 p.m. Nigeria time on Saturday.
Flamingoes would play in Group D with China Peoples Republic, Mexico and Colombia at the FIFA U-17 World Cup that will hold between March 15 and April 4.
