Arsenal won the game 2-0.
Arsenal have sent their London rivals, Tottenham Hotspurs, out of this year’s FA Cup competition as they secured a 2-0 win at the Emirates on Saturday.
A goal in each half off the boots of Santi Carzola and Thomas Rosicky keeps the Gunners still in contention for three trophies: FA Cup, Champions League, and the EPL title.
In other FA Cup matches also played on Saturday, it was a mixture of upsets and shocking results.
The Nigerian duo of Shola Ameobi and Victor Anichebe have kissed this season’s FA Cup bye as their respective teams, West Brom and Newcastle, suffered home defeats to Crystal Palace and Cardiff City respectively.
In some other games, Blackburn Rovers forced a replay against Manchester City after pegging the Citizens to a 1-1 draw. Also, Cup holders, Wigan, will have their tie replayed as they could only manage a 3-3 draw against MK Dons.
Everton recorded the day’s biggest win as they thrashed QPR 4-0 while one of the biggest shock of the day was Aston Villa’s 1-2 home loss to lower League side Sheffield United.
Other 3rd round games will be concluded on Sunday and the fourth round draws will also hold same day.
