Arsenal now have same points with Dortmund.
Arsenal‘s unbeaten run in the past couple of matches has finally ended as German club Borussia Dortmund defeated the Gunners 2-1 at the Emirates on Tuesday night.
Playing even without their coach in the dugout, Dortmund took the lead in the 16thminute thanks to a Mkhitaryan strike off a pass from Robert Lewandowski.
French striker, Oliver Giroud, however brought the home side back on level terms with four minutes left in the first half.
The second half resumed with the Gunners dominating proceedings and as usual could not convert their dominance into scoring chances.
Their push for a winner got them into trouble late into the second half as a counter attack from Dortmund saw Großkreutz swing in a superb cross that met the unmarked marksman Lewandowski to finish from close range and restore the visitors’ lead with just eight minutes left on the clock.
The result means the visitors go top of group F with six points from three games while Arsenal sit second with the same number of points.
In other games, Jose Mourinho finally secured his first win on German soil as his Chelsea side defeated Schalke 04 3-0
Barcelona held AC Milan to a 1-1 draw while Porto were defeated 0-1 by Zenit.
In Scotland, Super Eagles defender Efe Ambrose and his Celtic teammates battled to a 2-1 win over Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam.
