Kano Pillars are defending champions of the Nigerian League.
Kano Pillars are back on course to successfully defend their crown as they squeezed out a 1-0 win over Enyimba International in their rescheduled Glo Nigerian Premier League game at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, on Tuesday.
Mannir Ubale came off the bench to score a 90th minute goal to give Pillars a hard fought lone goal victory that effectively shot the club back to the summit of the league table.
Dubbed a grudge match by many, the game played at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja saw both teams coming close to scoring right in the first half; but the goal keepers at the two ends proved to be worthy representatives in between the sticks.
Pillars improved in the second half but appeared more cautious of conceding and as a result did less of the attacking.
The match was running to a close when Ubale took advantage of a great opportunity and scored the match’s only goal. This helped Pillars secure the maximum three points to leapfrog the duo of Bayelsa United and El-Kanemi, previously ranked first and second respectively.
