The result was enough to see Arsenal rise to the top of the Premier League table.
Arsenal’s fine start to the season continued on Sunday afternoon when they defeated Stoke City 3-1 to climb over Chelsea and sit top on the English Premier League.
German playmaker, Metzut Ozil, again showed he was money well spent having a hand in all three goals scored by the Gunners at the Emirate Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Ozil provided assists for Aaron Ramsey, Per Mertesacker, and Bacary Sagna, with Geoff Cameron grabbing a first-half equaliser for Stoke.
Ramsey opened the scoring with just five minutes gone, reacting quickest after Asmir Begovic parried Mesut Ozil’s free kick to slot home from eight yards.
Arsenal looked very comfortable after taking the lead but they were hit on the break in the 26th minute.
The Gunners didn’t let the equaliser put them off their game and 10 minutes later they had the lead again.
An Ozil corner was met in the air by Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny’s presence in the six yard box was enough to distract Begovic as the ball fell into the net.
In the 71st minute Arsenal got the goal to give them breathing room they desired when Sagna scored his first goal in 19 months with a looping header, with Ozil again the provider from a free kick.
The result was enough to see Arsenal rise to the top of the Premier League table, where they could be joined by rivals Tottenham who travel to Cardiff later this afternoon.
