Enyimba won the Federation Cup last week.
Enyimba International Wednesday followed up their 2013 Federation Cup triumph with another victory in the Glo Nigeria Premier League as they defeated visiting Wikki Tourist 2-0.
Wikki Tourists made the early incursions, and called Enyimba’s Femi Thomas into action twice early, but it was the Elephants who got the first breakthrough when Ifeanyi Ede opened scoring after good work from Josiah Maduabuchi.
Then it got worse for the visitors, when with 30 minutes played, Josiah Maduabuchi scored the second for the Aba Elephants.
Enyimba held the 2-0 lead till the break, and despite the efforts of the Elephants, could not find another but that was enough to secure the three points at stake and put Enyimba’s quest to win the League on track.
It was however not the same story for runners up Warri Wolves who were pegged to a goalless by Lobi Stars.
In other venues, Shooting Stars of Ibadan secured a vital point away from home as they were forced to a 1-1 draw by Heartland FC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
The Oluyole Warriors shot into the lead in the 39th minute through Gabriel Adikwu who benefitted from a rebound after Mutiu Adegoke’s shot was parried by Heartland’s goal keeper Ebele Obi.
However the Naze Millionaires salvaged a point from the Week 32 tie getting their equaliser from the penalty spot.
In Port Harcourt, it was a feast of goals as resurgent Sharks FC pummelled ABS FC 4-0. Also in Enugu, Rangers were too hot to handle for visiting Akwa United who were beaten 3-1 at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium in Enugu.
At the Samson Siasia stadium in Yenegoa, Nembe City piped Kano Pillars 1-0 while Kaduna United secured same score line against Dolphins FC.
