Nadal defeated Djokovic to win the US open.
After winning his second U.S. Open title in the early hours of Tuesday, Spanish Tennis star, Rafael Nadal, boosted his chances of finally edging his fierce rival, Navok Djokovic, for the top spot in the tennis rankings.
In a match that lasted 3 hours and 21 minutes, Nadal defeated his arch-rival, Djokovic, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, to win the United States Open Championship for the first time since 2010.
The self-belief and determination seems to have fired-up the Spanish Tennis star who was more than convincing when he finally finished off Djokovic on a night highlighted with amazing tennis artistry.
The victory means the 27-year-old has bagged another four-set win over Djokovic and got himself a 13th Grand Slam singles title.
Nadal went home with a huge sum of $2.6million and addition $1 million for winning the U.S. Open series
The victory will boost Nadal’s chances of displacing Djokovic as the World number one male tennis player.
